"We can't necessarily say that PTSD causes suicide... but there does appear to be a link."
http://www.redding.com/news/2008/feb/24/researchers-suicide-seems-linked-ptsd/
I'm sorry, but does this story not state the blatantly obvious facts? Maybe its just me, but it seems the experts are behind the patients who seem to have a stronger grasp of what causes (and what may cure) PTSD. The truth is out there, but not with the so-called "experts."

Abandoned Veterans
"A recent lawsuit filed by Veterans for Common Sense accuses the Veterans Administration of neglecting a huge PTSD backlog and treating sufferers on the cheap. Worse, the group says the Pentagon is using 'personality disorders' to discharge service members involuntarily and thus deny them benefits."

PTSD Profiteers Use Victims for Profit
There are plenty of people using the news hype about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder to fill their own pockets with cold hard cash. This blog article is actually quite clever. She starts out by giving a recap of the latest news regarding the US Army educating their own on the symptoms and possible treatment of PTSD. The article then ends with this:
If you or a loved one has suffered a brain injury in Philadelphia or elsewhere in Pennsylvania, please contact the Pennsylvania Brain Injury Attorneys at Pomerantz, Perlberger & Lewis.**

Even though I'm using her blog in a somewhat negative light, I can't talk about it without giving you the source. She may profit off of this, but oh well. While this is just cagey marketing, there are others out there who are not so benign. It's important to me that YOU understand that there is an industry that thrives off of you not getting any better.
Now, don't hate them for it. They're just trying to make money. It's our job to not be tricked or side-tracked away from the main goal: understanding the cause and cure of PTSD.
More to come...

Army Launches PTSD Program
It's amazing that they are offering all this help and information, yet they fully admit they don't know what to do after you are diagnosed.

PTSD: Dealing With Old Demons
This is a short article that shows how confounded the psychiatric industry is when it comes to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Many professionals are finding what doesn't work. They are still pretty far from what does work, though. Here are a couple excerpts that emphasize what I mean:
"PTSD robs you of everything you have — happiness, a social life, going to the movies, restaurants"
"The key is that he's confronting his fears and anxieties and not trying to bury them, she added."
This is a key point which should be recognized as true by anyone suffering with PTSD. The simple question they do not answer: how?
"'It's not something that goes away,' said Susan Hollenbeck, a licensed clinical social worker who is helping the Pearsons. 'There's no cure for it.'"
Not true. There is a definite cure, which we will delve into in future articles...

PTSD Parrots
They call it "mutual healing." What is it really? This form or rehabilitation produces many positive results. All are temporary.
One interviewee, when asked if he trusts the birds more than any person answers, "Oh, absolutely. I haven't been let down by a bird yet."
This attitude is typical of many who use animals as a way to make themselves feel better. While it may keep you from punching someone or getting drunk, this type of therapy is a mere pleasant distraction. All recovery will disappear as soon as the look, smell, or sound-alike stresses return to dredge up the emotions felt during the original trauma.
